The Museum of Modern Art NYC is one of the largest and most influential museums in the world with a focus on contemporary artists, architecture, design and photography.

The selection process for choosing items sold in their stores is similar to winning a design award. They assess submitted products against eight design criteria's to ensure it's a fit with their vision of exceptional design; then each proposed product is evaluated by MoMA's curatorial department. Only those that make it through these two steps successfully become a part of the products they sell in the shop. Every purchase supports MoMA's educational design programs and ongoing cultural works.

what it is

This flowing 100% silk scarf's print is inspired by Piet Mondrian's painting Trafalgar Square (1939-43). Mondrian is an artist represented in MoMA's collection, which is instantly recognizable as an icon of neoplasticism - the term he used to describe his abstract paintings that relied on straight lines and primary colors. The fluidity of silk gives a tactile suppleness to the bold geometry inspired by the painting.
